About This Property
The description of this property is taken from a book of Historic Architecture of Warsaw NC. Written by W. Frank Ainsley and assisted by Melba Laney. This magnificent Neo-Classical Revival mansion was built for JW Quinn, a local merchant. The side wings were added later to create a tripartite floor plan. The stuccoed and painted brick structure is dominated by a two-tiered attached pedimented portico supported by two clusters of three Tuscan columns. The projecting entrance is surrounded by a heavily molded semi-elliptical architrave featuring an elliptical fan light with eleven beveled glass cusps. Flanking each of the elliptical-shaped beveled glass panels in the side lights are thin Tuscan pilasters. Dentil molding highlights the cornice of the house. A rear porch has been enclosed.A pergola supported by vernacular Doric columns is located on the southwest corner of the house. The interior contains notable woodwork, mantles, and hardware. One outbuilding is a carriage house which is stuccoed and covered with seashells. 28 x 40 concrete block building has been built on the lot and has 220 wiring. Interior pictures have been omitted with this listing as owners have lots of furnishings and the beauty of the interior wood work is difficult to see. Home is heated and cooled by geo-thermal.
